Vice President, Feature Film

Summary

SK Global is seeking a Vice President, Feature Film to join our team. This is a key leadership role in the development and production of the company’s film slate. This role will identify, evaluate, and develop commercially viable and creatively compelling projects, collaborating closely with writers, producers, directors, and studio partners. The role requires strong creative instincts, deep industry relationships, and the ability to shepherd projects from early development through production and release.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, source, and acquire new film materials, such as scripts, books, life rights, and original ideas.
  • Evaluate incoming submissions, providing strategic recommendations on potential new projects.
  • Share oversight of the script development process, including building writer lists, reading samples, writing script notes, and interfacing with writers on script feedback.
  • Work with the production team as they develop production plans on film. During pre-production, production and post-production, work with the production team to help manage the budget and timeline for each film and ensure it is completed on time and within budget.
  • Take part in the post-production process, including giving cut and finishing notes.
  • Interface with distributors on marketing and press strategy leading up to the release of films.
  • Work with the legal/business affairs department on the negotiation of film deals. Ensure rights and contracts are in place and current.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on slate strategy, strategic planning and brand building.
  • Represent SKG at film festivals, screenings, and other industry events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with writers, directors, producers, executives and other industry professionals.
  • Track industry trends, emerging filmmakers, and market opportunities to inform development strategy.

Qualifications

  • 10-12+ years of experience in film development and production at a studio, production company, agency, or similar entertainment organization.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, packaging and making feature film projects.
  • Deep understanding of the film development and production process.
  • Strong creative judgment and the ability to identify compelling stories with commercial potential.
  • Able to foster and effectively manage working relationships with peers and senior leadership.
  • Strong relationships within the film industry, including writers, directors, producers, and talent representatives.
  • Entrepreneurial management style with an Artist-friendly personality, someone who deeply values the creative process.
  • Experience working at a Film Finance Company, ideally with Private Equity business preferred.

The anticipated annual salary for this position is $180,000 to $200,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. SK Global Entertainment also provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, year-round paid holidays, and flexible paid time off (PTO). 

The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, market demands and indicators, specific and unique skills or training, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
